Our Story
400 Years of Heritage
The Guernsey sweater originated over 400 years ago among the fishing communities of Guernsey.
These were not fashion garments. They were working tools — tightly knitted, wind-resistant, and designed to withstand harsh sea conditions.
What makes them truly remarkable is their identity.
Each family developed its own stitch patterns, passed down through generations. These patterns were distinctive enough that if a fisherman drowned and was later recovered, he could be identified by the design of his sweater and returned to his family.
In a time before modern identification, craftsmanship carried meaning beyond clothing.
We honour that legacy in every garment we produce.
100% British Wool
We work with Laxtons of Yorkshire, one of the last remaining vertical woollen mills in the UK.
Our yarn is:
- 100% British wool
- Sourced from heritage sheep breeds including Bluefaced Leicester and Masham
- Dyed and spun in Yorkshire
Bluefaced Leicester wool is prized for its softness and strength.
Masham wool adds durability and structure.
The result is a yarn that feels substantial, warm, and built to last.
Every sweater begins in British fields and is finished with the same attention to detail that defined the originals.
Why British Matters
In an industry dominated by offshore production and synthetic blends, we choose a different path.
- Supporting British farmers
- Supporting British mills
- Preserving heritage craft
- Producing garments with traceable provenance
We believe in clothing that lasts.
Clothing with identity.
Clothing with story.
